Roof Mounted
Roof mounting is the standard mounting option where sufficient suitable roof space is available.
Mounting options are available for corrugated metal, fibreboard, wood frame, steel frame, slate, Yorkshire Stone, clay and large flat roofs.
We do not install on old asbestos sheeting roofs, and recommend either the roof is resheeted first, or we can offer a ground mount or tracker option.
Planning permission is usually not required for roof mounted systems as they class as permitted development other than for listed buildings.
Ground Mounted
Where unshaded land area is available, ground mounting is a simple solution that guarantees perfect orientation and slope angle to improve the generation from your solar system.
Our mounting method is a fast, effective low cost solution suitable for all but the boggiest of ground conditions though the ground must be relatively flat.
Costs for ground mounted systems are similar to roof mounting costs.
Planning permission is usually required for any ground mounted systems, which our team will assist with obtaining.
Above Roof Solar
Solar panels that are fitted above the existing roof covering, with brackets between the tiles to fix to the rafters.
Advantages…
Lower cost than roof integrated panels especially on existing roofs.
Higher efficiency panel options.
Less space required to be left around the panel edges than for roof integrated.
Disadvantages…
Aesthetics not as good as roof integrated.
Potential for pigeons to nest behind the panels, causing mess and noise. (we can fit mesh to prevent this)
Beware of…
Bodgers who risk leaving you with a leaking roof if they use the wrong mounting kit, or have poor workmanship.
